The ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high fat, and moderate protein diet. 


The benchmark of a keto diet is that the body remains in ketosis, or a metabolic state in which the body no longer depends on carbohydrates and glucose for energy. Instead, the body turns fat into ketones to utilize energy more efficiently. 


Numerous academic studies suggest a wide range of health benefits as a result of the keto diet, including lowered insulin levels, reduced risk of diabetes, and weight loss.
